Welcome to PCF2024

“International Symposium on plant phenology and climate feedbacks mediated by BVOCs (PCF2024)”

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) project, “Plant Climate Feedback”, was launched in 2023. The project is particularly focused on biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOC) by which atmosphere/climate can dynamically interact with land ecosystems including plants, and is also aimed to establish a new multidisciplinary science by unifying fields of genes, ecosystems, atmosphere, and climate. Fundamental elucidation of climate-plant interactions mediated by BVOC requires a wide range of studies from plant physiological ecology to climate modeling. To achieve this goal, we are performing comprehensive investigations including large-scale gene expression analysis of forest ecosystems, real-time monitoring of BVOC emissions, and chemistry/land-ecosystem coupled climate modeling. In order to share the starting point of this ambitious project with any researchers and students interested in plant-climate feedback, we are pleased to announce here that the “International Symposium on plant phenology and climate feedbacks mediated by BVOCs” will be held in Gifu, Japan on 28th – 30th October 2024. We hope that this symposium will be a milestone in this new phase of science.
